Treasure Hunting: The Rookie Cards

In another new thing that Can Ball Ray is adding to the blog, he looks at what stuff he thinks could interest Canadian basketball fans that he's managed to find on Ebay.  Check out the stuff he's seen that could be worth a pick up in Treasure Hunting ...

Well, let's start off with the First Round pick Andrew Nicholson.  Trolling Ebay last night yielded some great finds for those of you, like myself, that would be willing to pick up a few sports cards with his likeness.  Mr. Nicholson has a golden opportunity to really make a contribution in Orlando this season and for a small price you can get great rookie card like this one here for a reasonable price as far as rookie autograph cards go.  It's numbered to ten and it even has a little variation in the card with Andrew's hand written "Go Magic" inscription. But if you want to go big I'd suggest scoping up this one asap as it is a one of one and well it's the card printing plate.  You can also get the base cards without autographs as well as base card autographs so if you miss out on these you can always find one of those I'm sure for this cat.

Leading off the second rounders is Kris Joseph and to be honest, there were not many basketball card options for this dude. This was the only one I found as of 12:44am Toronto time and it only looks like a   base card.  I don't know if people in the Boston area are hoarding them cards of Kris or not, or even if the other companies that are putting out the cards this season even have him in their sets but this seems kinda weak.  With this being the only one I've found thus far you may have to try your luck the old fashioned way for the next few days and buy the packs.

The last of the Canucks in this year's Draft is rookie LA Laker Robert Sacre and this dude has some stuff out there already. Though there isn't a whole lot there is a whole lot of signed stuff to be had.  You can grab his base cards of course or you can go straight to the goods and grab this pair of Rob's autographs here which is a pretty good look for the price, that is if nothing changes for the auction.  Or if you're a die hard Gonzaga fan this one could be more up your alley and it's numbered to five.  But if you really want to grab that great one, this is the one.  Like Nicholson's printing plate autograph this Sacre offering is a one of one production and the best part of the card is the "Oh, Canada" that Rob's added making this wholly unique.

Now this sports card scene may not be for everyone but for those one of kind type things to put on your office desk or den that are easily portable but still have that "wow" or "cool" factor, you could look into any of these options.

Stay tuned through out the year right here as Can Ball Ray trolls through Ebay for the Canadian Basketball stuff he finds.
